We’re thrilled to announce the Nutanix Database Service (NDB) 2.6.1 release and the availability of the NDB platform on the Microsoft Azure marketplace, which opens up a whole new world of possibilities for your database deployments.
With NDB on NC2 in Azure, you can deploy NDB on Azure bare-metal instances and extend the DBaaS capabilities it provides to single instance and high-availability database deployments running on NC2 in Azure. These DBaaS capabilities can be applied in an identical fashion across your entire database estate, including on AWS, Azure and on-premises.
Database engines supported by NDB running on NC2 in Azure include PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, and MySQL. All combinations of compatible operating systems and database engines are equally supported in Azure and on-premises.
Running NDB on Azure bare-metal gives you full control of your database environment and the ability to run the database engines and versions of your choice, with all the advantages of a DBaaS service and more, including:
- Unified database management: Manage the entire database lifecycle from provisioning and scaling to patching and cloning for diverse database engines such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB as well as provisioning and cloning for MySQL and MariaDB – all within and across the clouds of your choice.
- Centralized control and visibility: Effortlessly manage thousands of databases across on-premises, multiple public clouds, colocation facilities, and edge locations through a single, intuitive console and API.
- Simplified self-service provisioning: Empower developers with self-service provisioning for fast and easy access to a wide range of database engines, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle, MariaDB, and SQL Server. Supports development, testing and production environments through seamless API integration with popular infrastructure management and development tools like Kubernetes, Ansible and Terraform.
- Enhanced security and compliance: Rapidly deploy security patches across your entire database estate or to specific databases. Utilize consistent security policies across your on-premises and public cloud deployments and implement role-based access controls to ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
- Unmatched performance and availability: Run databases on the industry-leading hybrid multicloud infrastructure from Nutanix, which spans private datacenters, public clouds, colocation facilities, and the edge.
- Space-efficient database cloning: Create database clones with minimal storage overhead, including zero-byte clones, through superior snapshot technology. Schedule automated clone refreshes to any point in time for efficient testing and development.
- Resilient infrastructure: Leverage the Nutanix self-healing infrastructure, which provides automatic recovery from failures without user intervention or service disruptions while ensuring continuous database availability.
