Simplicity
Hyperconvergence enables a new, more collaborative way of working.

Productivity
Simplifying work allows employees to focus on more valuable tasks.

Our experience with Nutanix has been very good. I would especially highlight the user support, because of the detailed documentation and also because of the excellent assistance we've received when facing issues. This is something essential to ensuring our infrastructure stability and efficiency.

Challenge

Denso Ten España had a number of strategic projects in mind, and the first step was renewing their hardware and moving from the legacy virtualized approach to a hyperconverged architecture.

They knew from the start that the Nutanix hyperconverged platform was the perfect choice. Their main motivation to migrate was leveraging the benefits of a more efficient and agile infrastructure for a more effective approach to their technology challenges. Thanks to Nutanix, Denso Ten España simplified management, improved performance and scalability, and also reduced their infrastructure complexity.

Adopting Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) will also allow the company to achieve its key sustainability goals: transitioning to a zero CO2 operation, getting the ISO 50001 certification, and gathering real-time data from a fully automated manufacturing line.

Solution

Denso Ten España relies on Nutanix hyperconverged platform simplicity, stability, and scalability to achieve its goals. IT faced the challenge of acquiring, storing, processing, analyzing, and visualizing critical data, which included both switchboard and manufacturing line data. However, due to this data confidentiality, a traditional cloud solution was not viable so all the work needs to be done on-premise.

The ability of Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) to support a Kubernetes architecture aligned perfectly with Denso Ten's IT goals, enabling real-time monitoring of electricity consumption in order to achieve ISO 50001 certification, collect, analyze, and visualize data generated by a fully automated production line, and ensure the confidentiality of data critical to these projects.

This choice allowed the company to highly efficiently build all the necessary services on a Kubernetes cluster. This approach proved to be key for their transformation and sustainability goals, while maintaining the integrity and privacy of their sensitive data.

Results

Due to confidentiality concerns, Denso Ten data could not be migrated to the cloud. Working with Nutanix on-premise saved a considerable amount of time in information management, but also costs, since virtualization is included at no additional charge with the Nutanix platform.

Worker productivity has increased with new solutions, allowing more time for higher value performance. Hyperconvergence simplifies a way of working that previously made simultaneous and collaborative modes impossible. This project was completed in one year, and as soon as the platform went live, the IT department at Denso Ten España recognized that choosing Nutanix was a total success. The simplicity of one-click operations work is combined with relevant and required cost savings.

Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) has become an essential tool for the success of the organization's strategic projects too. Being able to deploy a Kubernetes cluster in production or development in less than 20 minutes, Nutanix technology has done away with hours of manual tasks, while allowing block and file storage, status monitoring, or even easily scaling or updating.

Next steps

Thinking ahead, one of the solutions Denso Ten is taking into consideration is Nutanix Database Service, for automating important but tedious database administrative tasks without sacrificing control or flexibility.

The organization is also using HYCU, the only data protection solution created specifically for Nutanix, and is evaluating the deployment of Nutanix Disaster Recovery as the recovery plan core to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of an outage.
