NKP enables organizations to easily overcome Kubernetes Day 2 operational barriers, such as security, observability, reliability, upgradeability, backup and restore, policy management, and governance. This saves time and resources, enabling organizations to operationalize production-ready cloud-native environments in minutes rather than weeks or months.

NKP deployment options include Nutanix, VMware, bare metal servers, and a full range of public cloud, edge and air-gapped environments with or without Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure.

Together with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, Nutanix Unified Storage and Nutanix Database Service, NKP Full Stack (NKP FS) delivers a consistent cloud-native platform for containers and VMs across public, private and hybrid multiclouds.

  • Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes (NDK). NDK simplifies and unifies provisioning and operating cloud-native applications by extending enterprise data services to containerized apps.

  • NKP Starter is not available to purchase separately. It is included with NCI Pro and Ultimate.

NKP Full Stack Editions

NKP can be purchased as a Full-Stack SKU that includes NCI, NKP, NDK, NUS, and NDB for Pro and Ultimate editions.

  • NKP Full Stack licenses are purchased and applied to the number of physical CPU cores in a cluster.
  • Licenses are portable across hardware platforms and are available in 1-5-year term options.
  • NUS capacity can be extended by purchasing additional NUS mixed-mode licenses.
  • NDB capacity can be extended by purchasing additional NDB add-on for NCI licenses.
  • NKP FS Ultimate includes metro availability and sync replication.

Product Add-ons Available

  • Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) can be added on to any NCI cluster to get multi-protocol unified storage capabilities.
    • 1 TiB of NUS Pro per NCI cluster is included at no cost with NCI.
    • 50 TiB of NUS Pro per NKP Full Stack Pro or Ultimate cluster is included.
  • Nutanix Database Service (NDB) can be added on to NCI Pro and Ultimate clusters to add database automation services including provisioning, cloning, copy data management, and lifecycle management capabilities for a large variety of databases.
    • 20 vCPUs of NDB per NKP Full Stack Pro or Ultimate cluster is included.

Pricing, Deployment, and Licensing Terms

Pricing

  • NKP is priced on either the number of physical CPU cores if running on bare metal or the number of virtual CPU cores (vCPUs) in your deployment if running on VMs (including in the public cloud), for all the worker nodes (including the worker nodes in a management cluster).
  • NKP Full Stack is priced per physical CPU core, and licensing must cover the entire number of cores for the full capacity of the cluster being licensed.
  • NKP Cloud Kubernetes is priced per virtual CPU cores (vCPUs), and licensing must cover the entire number of vCPUs for all the worker nodes (including the worker nodes in a management cluster).

Deployment

  • Mixing different NKP edition licenses in the same NKP management cluster isn’t supported.
  • If the same NKP management cluster must manage NKP and EKS or AKS, the only possible licensing option is the NKP Ultimate edition.
  • NKP Cloud Kubernetes is available when only managing EKS or AKS. A licensed management cluster running NKP and licensed with NKP Cloud Kubernetes is required.

Licensing Terms

  • All SKUs deliver term licenses and are configurable for any duration between 12-60 months. Licenses must be renewed for continued access to software and support.
  • Licenses are portable across hardware platforms.
  • The Nutanix End-User Licensing Agreement  is applicable for all NKP software.
